Abstract
Documents having archival value are those which need to be preserved for 50-75 years, or more. These are not laminated, but are encapsulated in polyester film with a four-edge seal. Problems with cellulose acetate lamination include improper control of the plastic film, and inability to achieve deacidification and verifiable 3% alkaline salt reserve in the paper document. A letter from Frazer Poole (The American Archivist, Vol. 40, no. 1, Jan. 1977) amplifies on the use and correct method for the Barrow One-Bath Solution. -- AATA
