Abstract
The ciborium is being studied to establish a chronology of the architecture and its decorations. The golden altar, which was ordered at Vuolvinio, by the Bishop of Milan Angilberto, is dated ca. 830-840. Precise dating of the ciborium above the altar has been difficult due to the lack of direct scientific study and analyses. A few certitudes are suggested.
