Analysis of possible ways of transparency removal was carried out. In case of one-sided documents of charter type, it is possible to decrease transparency by way of back surface loosening and application to it of a finely dispersed filler. A new universal method of transparency removal is described incorporating parchment extension. The opportunity to use this method for any kind of document including two-sided manuscripts is pointed out.
