Abstract
Sets out the requirements for a satisfactory packing case for paintings. A statistical survey of painting frame sizes within the National Gallery is given to assess packing case standard sizes. Details of various tests on designs of packing cases are given, including recordings carriedout on No. 741, Italian School, Dead Soldier during transportation from Washington to London. See also AATA 21-1938 for more information on the testing of packing cases.
