Abstract
The wreck in question is from a ship sunk in 1760 in the mouth of the St. Lawrence river. The large number of wooden objects are being impregnated with carbowax 4000; the equipment built to do this is described with drawings. Various methods for treating the quantities of iron also recovered are under investigation; the best so far is electrolysis in 1% Na2CO3 solution with a current density of 0.54 a/dm2. After electrolysis, a tannic acid treatment is given.
