Abstract
The transition from the Bronze Age to the Iron Age in the eastern Mediterranean civilizations around 1200 B.C. Is discussed, using archaeological evidence of the increase in iron weapons and artifacts found after the 2nd millennium B.C., and the relative advantages of iron, especially steel, over bronze. Iron-and steel-making processes are also discussed in detail.
