Abstract
Woven inscriptions, or tituli, appear in scroll-like shapes around the borders of a number of 16th-century tapestries depicting scenes from Petrarch's poem I Trionfi. Jean Robertet translated the Latin into French in the 15th century, and Robertet's poetry was preserved and later woven onto the tapestries when they were produced a century later.
