Abstract
In January 1985, a project for the conservation and restoration of oil paintings in the collection of various governmental institutions and leading private bodies was launched in the National Museum at New Delhi. A large number of paintings were treated under this project. The author presents a report on the types of conservation problems encountered and the nature of the treatment given to the oil paintings.
