Abstract
Describes the bone remains from food of inhabitants of Castillar de Mendavia (Navarra, Basque Country). The site has two levels: End of the Bronze Age and Iron Age I. The Bronze Age level contains few remains and it is that of the Iron Age which is of greater importance. The domestic mammals represented in this level are Bos taurus, Ovis aries, Capra hircus, Sus domesticus, Equus caballus, Equus asinus (?) and Canis familiaris. Among the wild ungulates, the only species which appears is Cervus elaphus. The evidence points to a human group which dedicated itself as much to pastoral as to agricultural activities. -- AATA
