The Kente silk and/or cotton cloth woven by the Asante and Ewe people of Ghana has been exhibited in Europe and America; it is part of a much wider complex of West African narrow strip cloths made up from individual strips sewn together to form a larger finished textile. The history of their manufacture is reviewed, and their main technical and design elements are compared at length, including a separate analysis of the looms used. -- AATA
