Abstract
As one of the Hamilton Kerr Institute's achievements, the author notes that, in 10 years, 1360 paintings were treated by the 13 students who completed the course of study and by a few short-term interns from abroad. He discusses the qualities which are essential for an Institute student and bemoans the lack of funds which has prevented the Institute from making a significant contribution to the improvement of conservation materials and methods. -- AATA
