Abstract
This paper presents data on braiding, in particular of slings, specifically as it is done by the Macusani area herders in the Andean highlands, whose method of braiding is thought likely to have descended from pre-Colombian antecedents. The function of the sling in Macusani life, the types made, and the instruction on their making are discussed. A general procedure in braiding is described.
