Abstract
Vast numbers of books need to be restored. The provision of nearideal environmental conditions will significantly slow down future deterioration and effect immense savings. Old books should perhaps be furbished and be given very minor restorative treatment by responsible amateur-binder volunteers under supervision and by library technicians with limited duties. Both categories would also serve a vital conservation function in making protective boxes and folders. See also 15-389. -- AATA
