Abstract
The research program was aimed at the development and testing of consolidation systems for porous materials employing acrylic monomers in solution. Upon polymerization, the acrylic resin would hopefully precipitate out of solution, lining the pore walls. Advantages seen for this approach were deep penetration, uniform deposition of polymer, reversibility, minimal effect on appearance of treated materials, and avoidance of the consequences of pore filling.
