The objective of the Canadian National Inventory Programme is to create a central data bank of information describing the key items and collections of the 1300 museums throughout Canada. Topics covered include: Field names and definitions for the fine and decorative arts, ethnology, archaeology, archaeological sites, history, and ornithology data bases; and operation of the National Inventory Programme.
