Abstract
Yama-ai dyestuff is said to have been used to dye the ancient kimono, known as Omigolomo. However, the chemical structure of the dyestuff remains unknown. The author isolated several substances different in color from both the dried and the fresh roots of Mercurialis leiocarpa, and studied them spectrophotometrically and electrophoretically.
