This article, an appendix to the <i>Proceedings</i>, is a reprint of the original from: <i>Canadian Historic Sites: Occasional Papers in Archaeology and History, No. 1</i>, Parks Ottawa, 1970, pp. 45-89. After a brief description of processes for manufacturing glass beads, an infinitely extensible bead classification system is described. The system is based on 1) the process of manufacture; 2) physical characteristics such as shape, size, and color (including translucency and opacity); and 3) verifiable entities. The various classes are described in detail.
