Abstract
In composition metallic glasses are metallic, but they have the noncrystalline atomic structure typical of a glass. Such a material can be prepared by cooling a molten alloy at a rate of a million degrees per second. A glass is a solid that can be regarded as a stop-action photograph of a liquid.
