Excavations at Tepe Yahya have produced unquestionable evidence for the production of carved soft, darkish stone objects, usually bowls. The purpose of this analysis was to establish the minimum number of source areas and to determine whether or not patterns among participant sites emerged which would show that certain sites obtained their material from the same postulated source area. This latter objective could indicate preferential trading patterns, possibly indicative of historical, even political relationships.
