Abstract
An expression for the extent of reaction of ethylene oxide with cellulose, the M.S., is defined as the average number of moles of ethylene oxide combined with the cellulose per anhydro-D-glucose unit. In commercial practice two types of derivatives have been of interest. Several methods of preparation are described.
