Abstract
An earlier conclusion that the holes in the so-called honeycomb coiffures of Flavian sculpture were produced with the help of a gouge is revised: new work with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) has shown that the triangular holes can also be obtained by drilling alone, although the method requires great skill.
