Abstract
Rebecca Medel produces intricate fiber constructs by using traditional fiber techniques in nontraditional ways. Medel works with a basic structure of layers of knotted nets and an integrated structure of attached perpendicular planes to create three-dimensional constructions. Medel uses light and transparency to explore illusion, weightlessness, and meditation. Her works include Shrine of Nur, Windowed Doors Through a Corridor of Infinity, Sprira Mirabilis, and Sky Dome III. Many of her works feature symbolism and motifs from Eastern religions and philosophy.
