Abstract
Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) is more accurate and uses higher energy levels than earlier infrared spectroscopic methods. Three cotton fabric sampling techniques have been developed to utilize these advantages: chemical modification by KBr disk, attenuated total reflectance (ATR), and diffuse reflectance (DRIFTS). The advantages and disadvantages of each of these methods are discussed.
