The advent of photography has led to a decrease, in some cases a complete disappearance, of graphic arts techniques. There is, however, still a demand for the publication of prehistoric and classical archaeological drawings, some in color, but quality and results vary enormously. The author compares different drawing techniques by using the Archaic horse from the Heraion of Samos in Greece as an example.
