Abstract
The dark stability of negative and reversible color films was examined with respect to the long-term conservation of archival film in the dark. The films were subjected to accelerated aging using a humidity of 40%, and temperatures of 50-92°, and degradation was measured by determining the absorbance of the least stable colorant. Extrapolations using Arrhenius' law gave a film stability at 24°. The excellent resistance of the Kodachrome films during testing made it impossible to predict their life-expectancy. -- AATA
