Abstract
Although the most important fiber property for good release of oily soils is surface hydrophilicity, other fiber properties that may improve soil release are a negative charge, swelling in water, a smooth fiber surface, a hard fiber surface, and low surface energy in the dry state. A durable soil release can be obtained by chemical reaction of the fiber surface by hydrolysis, grafting, oxidation, transesterification;physical sorption at the fiber surface; or coating the fiber surface with a polymer. -- AATA
