Abstract
A note on biodeterioration of tannery raw material in the course of the tanning process. Microbial degradation can appear during the soaking operation but can be avoided by adding a control agent such as pentachloro-phenolate. Only tanned leathers provide suitable substrate for microorganisms, especially fungi.
