The electric leaf casters made available to conservators in the past five years have offered an economical means of mending large quantities of book and archival materials. Unfortunately, some smaller laboratories do not have the funds for the large electric models and the related materials necessary for quality and quantity. The unit discussed was made from locally and easily obtained materials at minimum cost -- ($100-$150). The basic procedure for using the unit, pulp preparation and calculation for specific jobs, types of pulp, and pulp dyeing were also discussed.
