The versatility of Beva 371 for the treatment of contemporary art is demonstrated by five examples of actual linings. 1) Miró, gelatine on gouache underpainting, 2) Rouault, oil on both sides of a tom paper, transparently relined, 3) Klee, gouache on decaying burlap, transparently lined on silk chiffon, 4) Balthus, casein on unprimed canvas, mounted on a flexible honeycomb panel, and 5) a freshly painted collage, oil and mixed media, vacuum-lined without a membrane, a new method developed by the author.
