The termed mounted in the title refers to fine-gilt bronze mounts used on Asian porcelain and on 18th-century lacquer furniture made in Paris. A luxury craft produced original lacquer work in the form of tables, cabinets, commodes, etc. The different techniques of application, selection, and finishing decorative touches are discussed with reference to four previously unpublished pieces of furniture from a private collection. 1) Coromandel lacquer commode by B.V.R.B. (Chinese carved lacquer); 2) red lacquer commode by Peridiez (Chinese red lacquer); 3) black lacquer commode by Lapie (Japanese black lacquer); and 4) pillar commode in red Vernis Martin (French lacquer imitation of Japanese lacquer).
