Abstract
The current situation of research of bronze corrosion and protection is stated. Potential activation theory was applied to analyze and expound the viewpoints of bronze corrosion and protection. The whole processes of bronze corrosion were divided into three phases: compact membrane protection phase, protection membrane damaged local corrosion phase, and pore corrosion powdery rust accelerated phase. The recent research results of efficient passivation protection agent were reported. With this passivation agent, the protection membrane of different corrosion phases were restored and changed property, and its corrosion resistance was enhanced from 105Ω to 107Ω and it may be coated discontinuously and restored. Currently it was applied to the protection test of bronze cultural relics. -- ICCROM
