Abstract
Several antiquities such as swords, mirrors etc were analysed by scientific methods for conservation purposes. The methods used were X-ray photography, metallurgical microscopy, XRD, SEM, AES. The results have revealed much information about the composition, microstructure and fabrication method of the antiquities. This not only helps conservation, but also is important to archaeological and historical research. -- ICCROM
