Abstract
Usually the original intonaco was all removed and replaced by the intervention layer when reproducing the wall paintings' support system. This comparative research has shown that a certain thickness of original intonaco should be pre-served for strengthening its mechanical intensity, thus not only can the wall paintings' original state be kept to the largest extent, but it can also play the role of the intervention layer entirely. -- ICCROM
