Abstract
Drawing upon a wealth of 18th-and 19th-century documentary sources, as well as an extensive collection of on-site photographs of surviving buildings, Donald Hutslar traces the origins, development and decline of the log architecture and provides a detailed source book on log architecture for much of the upper midwest. Enhancing Hutslar's study are about 250 photographs of log structures across the state, and chapters on tools and materials, design, and restoration. -- AATA
