Abstract
This paper discusses the metallurgical processes used to make a large bronze crater found at Derveni, near Thessalonica, in 1962. It dates from the 4th century B.C. The bronze has been analyzed and metallurgical sections examined, and the structures suggest that the crater was made by hot working as it is a 15% tin bronze.
