Lavin made unexpected discoveries while applying computer technology to her research on Italian fresco cycles. She developed a database which allowed her to assemble and manage more information about a greater number of images and sites than she had imagined possible. This capability led to the generation of new hypotheses about the narrative disposition of imagery contained in fresco cycles. -- AATA
