White ware, which appears as one of the most conspicuous feature in Syrian Neolithic during the VIth millennium, is usually made, as are the plastered floors, of recarbonated lime (calcium carbonate) but is sometimes made of gypsum plaster (hydrated calcium sulphate). Some very calcareous wares are undistinguishable at a first glance from true white ware. the manufacturing process of lime ware has been tested successfully, thus disclosing the drawbacks and capacities of this short lived invention.
