Abstract
Scrapbooks are considered to have originated with early 16th-century common-place books. The 17th century saw the development of albums of prints and drawings. The development of newspapers and magazines in the 18th century had a profound effect on scrapbooks. The technique of grangerizing was also introduced in the 18th century. The 19th century was the heyday for scrapbooks, but its bad paper has created numerous preservation problems. References. -- ICCROM
