Abstract
The extract from this historical document (by <i>J. McEvoy) consists of sections on forest plantations and planting, forest nurseries and the sale of planting stock, and the price of local timber, and an appendix giving details of improved methods of nursery and plantation management (introduced by Lord Mountjoy near Omagh). Mention is made of the practice of liming stumps of overmature oak (<i>Quercus robur s.1.) to induce suckering, and of bog-fir (subfossil <i>Pinus sylvestris raised from bogs) as an important local source of timber for general use. -- AATA
