Abstract
Four methods of removing chlorides from corroded iron have been compared on a group of La Tene iron finds from Wederath, Kreis Bernkaster/Mosel, which were assumed to have comparable amounts of chloride contamination. These four methods are: 1) washing at normal and raised temperatures; 2) washing with a fluctuating temperature (intensive washing); 3) Desalination by ionophoresis; and 4) cathodic desalination.
