Abstract
The choice of storage and treatment methods for the stabilization of marine objects will depend on local conditions, the nature and quantity of material, the expertise and facilities available and the sources of finance. The advantages and disadvantages of the various methods are summarized. Of these methods the authors recommend only two: for large, mechanically-sound iron objects and those where a solid metal core remains, electrolysis, and for fragile iron objects, washing in a hot alkaline reduction solution.
