A method for preserving stone, using stable silica on sandstone monuments is described: nubia sandstone first, then objects made from igneous rocks. Good results were observed in both cases, despite earlier problems encountered by another conservator. It was confirmed that multi-directional mineralogical-petrographic studies must be made prior to the conservation of carbonate objects, which would then indicate the use of various preservation techniques.
