Natural stone, a diverse material frequently used for artistic purposes, differs in its mineral composition and structural properties, which affects technical properties, including weather resistance. Natural weathering and building stone weathering affect the stones and create different forms of decay. The assessment of the building stones and the identification of damages and their causes are essential prerequisites for any successful stone preservation.
