Abstract
Azilian pebbles in collections in museums of western Europe have been studied. Background is given regarding the sources of these pebbles, most of which have come from the cave of Mas d'Azil. Criteria for the authenticity of the pebbles have been established by Claude Couraud: the physical characteristics of the stones, chemical composition of the stone and paint, and iconography. -- AATA
