Abstract
Neolithic pottery from the northern part of East Gemany was studied using x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and a combination of differential thermal analysis and thermogravimetry. These techniques were used to detemine the mineral content type of phase, particle morphology, and chemical composition, as well as percentage of organic material and approximate original firing temperature. The results indicate an improved mastery of both firing and shaping techniques in these areas of Europe. -- AATA
