Recently Dow Chemical Company has introduced SILVADURâ„¢ ET antimicrobial, a silver based technology that is able to provide a durable, light and heat stable antimicrobial performance to a wide range of textiles and nonwoven materials. Unlike other products in the market today, SilvaDurâ„¢ ET is a liquid delivery system for silver and is completely particle free. It utilizes a proprietary polymer technology to provide a durable antimicrobial finish with minimal effect on the feel of the fabric. The liquid product is readily water dilutable, allowing formation of phase stable and solids free finishing bath solutions for easy and rapid processing of fabric. Extensive evaluation has shown that the product is compatible with a wide range of natural and synthetic fabrics and provides durable (>50 launderings) antimicrobial performance. An all aqueous low pH second generation product (SILVADURâ„¢ AQ) will be introduced later this year.
