Examples are cited of primitive roof construction with no timbers above eaves level; on the ceiling joists a prism-shaped pile of twigs is made and normal thatch is laid over all. There may be a central row of posts supporting the joists, and this might suggest an alternative means of reconstructing excavated buildings with central posts. -- AATA
