Abstract
The mosaics from Pompeii and the Campanian region that were detached in the 18th and 19th centuries and which now pave the floors of the Naples museum have had to be lifted once more to allow the consolidation of the underlying floors which were badly shaken during the 1980 earthquake. This has allowed the study of the technique used in applying mosaics to piperno slabs. It appears that the pavement was laid using colophane while the slab was kept warm. For more information on mosaics, see also 21-854, 21-895, 21-927, 21-948 and 21-962. -- AATA
