Abstract
The Shosoin Treasure House at Nara preserves treasures of the 8th century. The lead isotope ratios of the glass beads preserved show that the lead used is of Japanese origin. The beads containing much lead (over 60% PbO) as well as a soda-lime glass bead containing only a trace of PbO contained Japanese lead. See also AATA 16-1542. -- AATA
