The author's two-year course on technical matters for art history students at the Academy of Catholic Theology in Warsaw is discussed. The basic argument is that the responsibility for Preservation of the cultural heritage of mankind lies not only with conservators but even more with persons entrusted with proper maintenance of objects, (curators, directors, custodians, etc.). The described program could also be of use to ethnographers, archaeologists and conservators wishing to enlarge their field of interest.
